Supporting our children at school

Our spectacular Bird's Nest rope structure was researched, organised and largely funded by the PTA.
Our spectacular Bird's Nest rope structure was researched, organised and largely funded by the PTA.

The PTA is an essential element in the life of the school, bringing up issues for debate, helping to solve problems, raising money and generously supporting a great range of activities for the children.

Open to all parents and teachers

Every parent or carer of a child at the school automatically becomes a member of the PTA when their child starts school. This includes children in their F1 year at Comper, as well as Years 1 to 6. Everyone on the teaching staff is also a member.

PTA aims and activities

The PTA’s key aims are to bring together families and teachers of children at St Mary & St John and support the school, through social and educational events, fund-raising, and campaigning on school and community issues.

  • Meetings are held once a term, to plan events and as a forum for discussing a wide range of subjects.
  • Fund-raising and social events are held nearly every week of term, all through the year.
  • A small committee meets regularly to coordinate activities.

Newsletters and an annual report keep everyone up to date with achievements and events.
